Service Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

NOTE:
To enhance customer satisfaction, remember to reset the clock when you have completed the service procedure.

2. Remove the upper and lower steering column shrouds

3. Rotate the ignition key to the ON position.





4. Insert a small screwdriver or pin punch into the release tang access hole on the bottom of the steering column (Figure 1).

5. Push the release tab up and remove the key cylinder from the steering column.

6. Remove the multi-function switch assembly

7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear of the ignition switch.





8. Using a tamper-proof torx bit (Snap-on P/N TT10A1 or equivalent), remove the ignition switch mounting screw (Figure 2).





9. Pull the ignition switch straight out to remove it from the locking tabs (Figure 3).





10. Rotate the new ignition switch to the ON position (Figure 4).

11. Connect the electrical connector to the rear of the ignition switch. Make sure that the locking tab is fully seated.

12. Snap the ignition switch onto the steering column locking tabs.

13. In stall the tamper-proof ignition switch screw. Tighten the screw to 17 in-lbs (2 N.m).

14. Install the key cylinder into the housing. Align the end of the key cylinder with the ignition switch and then push the key cylinder in until it clicks.

15. Rotate the key to the LOCK position.

16 Check the operation of the key cylinder to ensure that it rotates smoothly.

17. Install the multi-function switch assembly.

18. Install the steering column upper and lower shrouds.

19. Connect the negative battery cable.
