SUBJECT:
Soft Top Zipper Cleaner and Lubricant - For Difficult To Operate Window Zippers

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves a discussion on maintenance of any soft top window zipper.

Maintenance will substantially improve the performance of the zipper(s).

MODELS:

**1997 - 2004** (TJ) Wrangler

DISCUSSION:

The customer may experience of one or more soft top window zippers that are difficult to operate. Inspection may find that high effort may be required to move the zipper slide along the zipper teeth. The customer may even experience a stuck zipper condition.

Debris (sand, mud/dirt, dust, or salt) from off-road driving will have a major impact on zipper operation. Even normal on-road driving and vehicle washing will eventually impact window zipper operation.

When new from the factory, the soft top has a special zipper lubricant applied to each window zipper. With use, and over time, this special zipper lubricant will eventually wear off or dissipate. To maintain ease of use, each soft top window zipper should regularly be cleaned and lubricated by the customer.

Soft Top Zipper Cleaner & Lubricant (p/n 05066440AA), has been released by Mopar. This product has proven to be very successful in reducing zipper efforts when instructions listed on the container are followed.

Before applying, be sure the zipper teeth are clear of sand, mud and other materials. Thoroughly clean both halves of the zipper, not just one side. Rinse both zipper halves with fresh water and allow to dry. Aggressively work the Soft Top Zipper Cleaner & Lubricant into the zipper teeth.

If a stuck zipper slide is experienced, work the Soft Top Zipper Cleaner & Lubricant into the zipper slide. Several applications may be required before the zipper becomes tree.
