A/C Suction Hose/Line Replacement

REMOVAL

WARNING: REVIEW THE WARNINGS AND CAUTIONS IN THE FRONT BEFORE PERFORMING THE FOLLOWING OPERATION.

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system.

Suction Line - Typical LHD:

3. Remove the nuts that secure the suction line to the accumulator and the evaporator tapping block .
4. Disconnect the suction line from the accumulator inlet port and the evaporator outlet port.
5. Remove the O-ring seals from the opened suction line fittings and discard.
6. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened suction line fittings and the accumulator and evaporator ports.
7. Remove the nut that secures the suction line to the accumulator outlet port.
8. Disconnect the suction line from the accumulator outlet port.
9. Remove the O-ring seals from the opened suction line fitting and discard.
10. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened suction line fitting and the accumulator outlet port.
11. Remove the bolt or nut (depending on application) that secures the suction line to the A/C compressor inlet port.
12. Disconnect the suction line from the A/C compressor.
13. Remove the O-ring seals from the opened suction line fitting and discard.
14. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened suction line fitting and the A/C compressor inlet port.
15. Remove the suction line from the engine compartment.

INSTALLATION
1. Position the suction line into the engine compartment.
2. Remove the tape or plugs from the opened suction line fitting and the A/C compressor inlet port.
3. Lubricate a new rubber O-ring seal with clean refrigerant oil and install it on the suction line fitting. Use only the specified O-rings as they are made of a special material for the R-134a system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
4. Install the suction fitting onto the A/C compressor inlet port.
5. Install the bolt or nut (depending on engine application) that secures the suction line fitting to the A/C compressor. Tighten the bolt or nut to 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
6. Remove the tape or plugs from the suction line fitting and the accumulator outlet port.
7. Lubricate a new rubber O-ring seal with clean refrigerant oil and install it on the suction line fitting. Use only the specified O-rings as they are made of a special material for the R-134a system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
8. Install the nut that secures the suction line to the accumulator outlet port. Tighten the nut to 9 Nm (80 in. lbs.).
9. Remove the tape or plugs from the suction line fittings and the accumulator inlet port and evaporator outlet port.
10. Lubricate new rubber O-ring seals with clean refrigerant oil and install then on the suction line fittings. Use only the specified O-rings as they are made of a special material for the R-134a system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
11. Install the nuts that secure the suction line to the accumulator and evaporator tapping block. Tighten the nut to the accumulator to 9 Nm (80 in. lbs.). Tighten the nut to the evaporator tapping block to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
12. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
13. Evacuate the refrigerant system.
14. Charge the refrigerant system.
