NSG-370 Manual Transmission - Lubricant Level
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves an acceptable "factory fill" lubricant level for the new NSG-370 manual transmission.
MODELS:
2005 (KJ) Liberty / Cherokee
2005 (TJ) Wrangler
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a NSG-370 six speed manual transmission (sales code: DEH).
DISCUSSION:
When received from the factory, the vehicle's new NSG-370 six speed manual transmission is correctly filled with 1.5 liters (1.6 qts.) of manual transmission lubricant (oil). When "factory filled" with 1.5L (1.6 qts.) of lubricant, the top of the lubricant will be at the bottom of the oil fill hole or slightly below the oil fill hole by no more than 4 mm (0.158 in.).
NOTE:
Additional manual transmission lubricant should NOT be added to "top off" the "factory fill" lubricant level if the top of the lubricant is within 4 mm (0.158 in.) of the bottom of the oil fill hole.
If the NSG-370 is serviced due to repair or regular maintenance, and the transmission lubricant has been drained, then the NSG-370 manual transmission can be refilled until the the lubricant level is at the bottom of the oil fill hole (service fill).
The lubricant used in the new NSG-370 manual transmission is p/n 04874464 - Manual Transmission Lubricant (MS-9224). The vehicle needs to be positioned on a level surface when the manual transmission lubricant level is checked to ensure an accurate measurement.
