System Specifications

Cylinder Head Bolt

CAUTION: Engine cylinder head bolts should be reused only once. Replace the head bolts if they were used before or if they have a paint dab on the top of the bolt.


CAUTION: During the final tightening sequence, bolt No. 11 will be tightened to a lower torque than the rest of the bolts. DO NOT overtighten bolt No. 11.





First Pass Bolts 1 Through 14 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.)
Second Pass Bolts 1 Through 14) 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.)
Third Pass Ensure All Bolts Are At 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.)
Fourth Pass Bolts 1 Through 10 149 Nm (110 ft. lbs.)
Fifth Pass Bolt 11 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.)
Sixth Pass Bolts 12 Through 14 149 Nm (110 ft. lbs.)
Seventh Pass Check All Bolts In Sequence, Verify Correct Torque
Final Pass If not already done, clean and mark each bolt with a dab of paint after tightening. Should you encounter bolts which were painted in an earlier service operation, replace them.

Cylinder Head Warpage (Flatness) 0.03 mm per 25 mm (0.001 In. per 1 inch) 0.05 mm per 152 mm (0.002 In. per 6 inch)
Flatness (MAX) 0.20 mm - Max For Total Length

First Pass Fastener 3 Finger Tight
Second Pass Install Intake Manifold On Cylinder Head Dowels
Third Pass Install Washer & Fasteners 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10 & 11
Fourth Pass Install Washer & Fasteners 6 & 7
Fifth Pass Fasteners 1 Through 5 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.)
Sixth Pass Fasteners 6 & 7 31 Nm (23 ft. lbs.)
Final Pass Fasteners 8 Through 11 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.)
