A/C - HEATER CONTROL

REMOVAL

WARNING: ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIRBAGS, DISABLE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. DISCONNECT AND ISOLATE THE NEGATIVE BATTERY (GROUND) CABLE, THEN WAIT TWO MINUTES FOR THE AIRBAG SYSTEM CAPACITOR TO DISCHARGE BEFORE PERFORMING FURTHER DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. THIS IS THE ONLY SURE WAY TO DISABLE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the center bezel from the instrument panel.
3. Remove the glove box from the instrument panel.

A/C-Heater Control - Typical:




4. Reach through the glove box opening and disconnect the two halves of the A/C-heater control vacuum harness connector.
5. Remove the two screws that secure the A/Cheater control to the instrument panel.
6. Pull the A/C-heater control away from the instrument panel to access the connections on the back of the control.

7. Disconnect the three wire harness connectors from the back of the A/C-heater control and remove the control from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION
1. Connect the three wire harness connectors to the back of the A/C-heater control.
2. Position the A/C-heater control onto the instrument panel and install the two retaining screws. Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.).
3. Reach through the glove box opening and connect the A/C-heater vacuum harness connector.
4. Install the glove box.
5. Install the center bezel.
6. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
