SUBJECT:
Passenger Seat Manual Recliner Inoperative
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves installing a clip on the passenger seat recliner bell crank.
MODELS:
2006 - 2007 (WK) Grand Cherokee
2006 - 2007 (XK) Commander
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The passenger seat manual recliner is inoperative because the cable has detached from the recliner bell crank.
DIAGNOSIS:
This repair should be performed on all subject vehicles.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Function passenger seat manual recliner handle to place seat back into forward most position if possible.
2. Adjust the passenger seat assembly to its most forward position to aid access to the rear of the seat side shield/trim panel.
3. Remove the passenger seat side shield/trim panel rear attaching screw.
4. Pull the side shield/trim panel slightly away from the seat to expose the plastic bell crank.
5. Ensure the recliner cable in properly positioned in the recliner bell crank.
6. Place clip, p/n 68025170AA into a 1A inch nut driver tool.
7. Position the clip over the rear edge of the recliner bell crank ensuring the clip is over both sides of the cable opening.
8. Push the clip onto the bell crank, (Fig. 1). If the clip is not fully seated on the bell crank, tap the clip the rest of the way on with a small mallet.
9. Align side shield/trim panel to proper position and install the attaching screw.
