A/C - Blower Motor is Noisy

SUBJECT:
Noisy Blower Motor Due To Debris Ingestion

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves installing a new air baffle screen to the air inlet opening under the cowl grille.

MODELS:

2006 - 2008 (XK) Commander

2006 - 2008 (XH) Commander (International Markets)

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built prior to October 1, 2007 (MDH 1001XX) without sales code JMA.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The vehicle operator may notice an objectionable sound from the glove box area when blower motor is on. This is caused because the air baffle is not making a tight seal against the air inlet opening, allowing debris to be pulled into the blower motor.

DIAGNOSIS:
Operate the blower motor in all speeds with windows closed. If the objectionable sound can be detected perform the Repair Procedure.





PARTS REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Remove the cowl grille, Refer to the Service Information available in DealerCONNECT/TechCONNECT section 23 - Body/Exterior/Cowl Grille - Removal.

2. Remove and replace the air baffle screen (p/n 55037760AE LHD or 55037768AE RHD).

3. Remove the blower motor, Refer to the Service Information available in DealerCONNECT/TechCONNECT section 24 - HVAC Service Information/Distribution/Blower Motor - Removal.

4. Clean any debris out of the blower motor. It may be necessary to use shop air to blow it out of the blower motor.

5. Install the blower motor, Refer to the Service Information available in DealerCONNECT/TechCONNECT section 24 - HVAC Service Information/Distribution/Blower Motor - Installation.
