Metallic Rattle Sound From Liftgate While Driving Over Bumps

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves diagnosing the sound and replacing the liftgate bumpers.

MODELS:

2007 (MK49) Compass

2007 (MK74) Patriot

2007 (PM) Caliber

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to models built through June 11, 2007 (MDH 0611XX).

DIAGNOSIS:

Some customers may experience a metallic rattle sound from the rear of the vehicle while driving over bumpy surfaces such as rail road tracks etc. If the noise is determined to be a metallic sound while driving over bumpy surfaces coming from the liftgate area, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Replace the right and left liftgate bumpers with pn 05160254AB.

Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
