Body - Front/Rear Windows Stick/Bind/Chatter

Window Bind, Stick or Chatter

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves checking door glass and adjusting as necessary for:

I. Pinch point at A-pillar in the glass run channel for the front doors.

II. Interference between the division bar and door glass on the rear doors.

MODELS:

2006-2007 (KJ) Liberty

2006 - 2007 (KJ) Cherokee (International Markets)

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Vehicle operator may complain of door windows binding, sticking or chattering.

DIAGNOSIS:

If the above conditions are described by the vehicle operator, perform the Repair Procedure.

FRONT DOOR REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Remove the door panel, speaker and waterdam. Refer to the detailed removal procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 23 - BODY > DOOR - FRONT > WATERDAM > REMOVAL > WATERDAM.





2. Disengage glass from lift plate. Depress the lock tabs and release the glass from the regulator lift plate (Fig. 1).

3. Operate the window switch to lower the regulator to the bottom of the door.

4. Align the rear edge of the glass to the B-pillar at the top of window opening.

5. Check for binding between run channel at A-pillar and glass;

6. By hand, slide glass down and feel for pinch point between glass and run channel in A-pillar.

7. Remove fasteners from A-pillar leg of glass run channel.





8. Pull front leg of glass run channel out of door (Fig 2).

9. Increase channel width at pinch points.

10. Insert front leg of glass run channel back into door. With pressure pulling rearward to glass, tighten fasteners.

11. Install waterdam, speaker and door panel. Refer to the detailed installation procedures available in DeaIerCONNECT > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 23 - BODY> DOOR - FRONT > WATERDAM > INSTALLATION > WATERDAM.

REAR DOOR REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Cycle window to bottom of door.

2. Remove the door panel, speaker and waterdam. Refer to the detailed removal procedures available in DeaIerCONNECT > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 23 - BODY > DOOR - REAR > WATERDAM > REMOVAL > WATERDAM.





3. Loosen division bar fasteners on glass run channel (Fig 3).

4. Pull division bar forward to eliminate free play to glass.

5. Tighten fasteners.

6. Check to ensure fixed glass fit to door C-pillar is acceptable.

7. Install waterdam, speaker and door panel. Refer to the detailed installation procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 23 - BODY > DOOR - REAR > WATERDAM> INSTALLATION > WATERDAM.
