DESCRIPTION

NOTE: 4.7L engine shown. Other engines similar.

The A/C suction line (2) is the refrigerant line that carries refrigerant from the A/C evaporator to the A/C compressor (3). The A/C suction line is retained onto the A/C expansion valve (1) by a tapping plate (4), which also secures the A/C liquid line (8) . A/C Suction Line - Description Models equipped with the rear heating-A/C system include an extension tube (5) that connects the suction line to the underbody suction line (7) by use of a tapping block (6).

NOTE: Replacement of the refrigerant line O-ring seals and gaskets is required anytime a refrigerant line is opened. Failure to replace the rubber O-ring seals and metal gaskets could result in a refrigerant system leak.

The A/C suction line has no serviceable parts except for the rubber O-ring seals. The O-ring seals used on the connections are made from a special type of rubber not affected by R-134a refrigerant. The O-ring seals must be replaced whenever the suction line is removed and installed.

If the A/C suction line cannot be repaired and must be replaced if found to be leaking or damaged.
