Shift Lever - Removal

REMOVAL

SHIFTER KNOB

NOTE: Most shift knobs can be remove by hand. The motion should mimic that of a slide hammer. Constant force doesn't aid in the removal of the knob.

1. Slide the shift lever (4) back towards the seat and pull the shift knob (3) in an upward motion with a "quick" snap to remove the shift knob (3).

2. If removal of the shift knob (3) by hand is not possible wrap a shop towel (4) or equivalent around the base of the shift knob (3) and using puller C-4333A-1 or equivalent (2) and slide hammer (1), remove the shift knob (3) from the shift lever.

SHIFTER BOOTS

1. Remove shifter knob, see procedure above.
2. Using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, separate the outer shifter boot (2) from the console bezel (1).

3. Using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, separate the inner shift boot (2) at the rear of the boot (3), and slide the boot toward the rear of the vehicle and then slide the boot over the shift lever (1) to remove.

SHIFTER LEVER

NOTE: The shift lever can be removed as an assembly without having to completely remove the shift knob and boots.

1. On manual transmission vehicles, using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, separate the outer and inner shifter boots (2) from the center console and body opening.
2. Remove the bolt (3) and remove the manual transmission shifter from the shifter shaft (1).
