Headlamp Alignment Actuator - Removal

REMOVAL





1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. For the left side only, remove the horn from the back of the front end module carrier if necessary for access to the left headlamp leveling motor. Horn - Removal.
3. For the right side only, remove the engine air filter housing if necessary for access to the right headlamp leveling motor. Air Cleaner Body - Removal or Air Cleaner Body - Removal.
4. Disconnect the engine compartment wire harness connector from the headlamp leveling motor (1) connector receptacle.
5. Rotate the headlamp leveling motor on the back of the front end module carrier (2) (clockwise for the right motor, or counterclockwise for the left motor) about 30 degrees.
6. Grasp the motor firmly with one hand and pull sharply and quickly straight rearward to unsnap the ball on the end of the motor pushrod from the socket on the spacer (3).
7. Remove the headlamp leveling motor from the engine compartment.

NOTE: The spacer and the headlamp mounting collar (4) cannot be repaired. If the spacer or collar break or if the spacer becomes disengaged from the collar before the leveling motor pushrod disengages the spacer, both the spacer and the mounting collar will also require replacement.
