B1181-REAR RIGHT SEAT HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.

- When Monitored:
With the ignition on, during the heated seat operation.

- Set Condition:
The Heated Seat Module (HSM) detects the Control circuit shorted to ground.





1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, clear all DTC's.
3. Operate the Heated Seat Switch in both positions several times.

NOTE: Adjust the seat forward and rearward as well as the seat back position while performing this test. This can help uncover and intermittent wiring problem with the heating element in the seat.

4. With the scan tool, read DTC's.

Does the scan tool display active: B1181-REAR RIGHT SEAT HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Check for an intermittent condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Repair as necessary.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test

2. SEAT HEATER ELEMENT
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the 2nd Row Seat in-line harness connector.

NOTE: Check connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.

3. Turn the ignition on.
4. With the scan tool, clear all DTC's.
5. Operate the Heated Seat Switch in both positions several times.
6. With the scan tool, read DTC's.

Does the scan tool display active: B1181-REAR RIGHT SEAT HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW?

Yes

- Go To 3

No

- Repair/replace the pigtail/heating element as necessary for a short to ground.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test

3. (P178) RIGHT REAR SEAT HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
1. Ensure the 2nd Row Seat in-line harness connector is still disconnected.
2. Disconnect the Heated Seat Module harness connector.

NOTE: Check connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.

3. Measure the resistance between ground and the (P178) Rear Right Seat Heater Control circuit at the HSM harness connector.

Is the resistance above 10k ohms?

Yes

- Replace the Heated Seat Module (HSM)
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test

No

- Repair the (P178) Rear Right Seat Heater Control circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test
