A/C - Rear Defrost Button Is Hard To Operate

Rear Defroster Switch Engagement Effort

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves remove the ATC control head and insert two screws (p/n 68078941AA) into the back per the repair procedure.

MODELS:

2010 (LX) 300/300C/Charger

2010 (LE) 300C/300C Touring (International Markets)

2010 (WK) Grand Cherokee

2010 (XK) Commander

2010 (XH) Commander (International Markets)

NOTE:
The bulletin applied to vehicles equipped with Air Conditioning (Sales Code HAA or HAF) built before August XX, 2009 (MDH XXXXXX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Customer may experience a rear defroster switch that has higher than desired engagement effort. This condition is caused by the ATC housing having too much deflection when the button is pressed which does not close the switch properly. Extra push effort will close the switch.

DIAGNOSIS:
If the above symptom/condition is experienced perform the Repair Procedure.





PARTS REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Remove the ATC Control head. Follow the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT/TechCONNECT, Refer To Group 24 - Heating & Air Conditioning > Controls > Controls, A/C and Heater Removal procedures.





2. Install the two screws into the back of the ATC control head p/n 68078941AA (Fig. 1).

3. Install ATC Control head. Follow the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT/TechCONNECT, Refer To Group 24 - Heating & Air Conditioning > Controls > Controls, A/C and Heater Installation procedures.
