SUBJECT:
Front Left Door Window Grinding Sound

OVERVIEW:
Inspecting the left front window for a grinding sound and if necessary replace the window regulator.

MODELS:

2010 KA Nitro

2010 KK Liberty

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built before April 26, 2010 (MDHO426XX).


SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The customer may experience an excessive grinding sound from left front door when cycling the window up and down.

DIAGNOSIS:

If the symptom/condition is experienced, proceed to the repair procedure.





PARTS REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Cycle the left front door up and down seven times. Was an excessive grind sound exhibited?

a. Yes >>> Proceed to Step # 2.

b. No >>> This bulletin does not apply further diagnosis is required.

2. Remove the left door trim panel. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in:

DealerConnect > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 23-Body > Doors - Front > Panel, Door Trim > Removal.





3. Remove the three torque fasteners from the regulator and disconnect the electrical connector (Fig. 1).





4. Using a trim stick and/or equivalent slide behind the regulator to hold the drum in place while you remove the regulator. Pull the regulator straight out from the module making sure to keep pressure on the drum so it does not pull out of the module (Fig. 2).

5. Install the new window regulator and ensure it is properly seated against the carrier plate.





6. Fasten all three fasteners previously removed to 4.0 Nm +/- 0.50 Nm number 1 (Fig. 3).

7. Secure the electrical connector number 3 (Fig 3.).

8. Cycle the window up and down seven times to verify there is no grinding condition.

9. Install front left door trim panel. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in:

DealerConnect > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 23-Body > Doors - Front > Panel, Door Trim > Installation.

10. Return the vehicle to the customer or dealer inventory.
