SUBJECT:
Rear Flipper Glass Waterleak
OVERVIEW:
This involves inspecting the rear flipper glass for water leaks and if necessary installing a seal.
MODELS:
2010 (KK) Liberty
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built before June 01, 2010 (MDH0601XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience water running down the center inside of the rear flipper glass and/or damp cargo floor. Inspect for signs of water streaks on the inside of the glass.
DIAGNOSIS:
1. Inspect the cargo floor for damp carpet. Was the carpet damp?
a. Yes >> Proceed to the repair procedure.
b. No >> Proceed to Step # 2
2. Perform a water flow test on the flipper glass. Was water leaking into the cargo area?
a. Yes >> Proceed to the repair procedure.
b. No >> Continue further diagnosis this bulletin does not apply.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Open the flipper glass and clean the top edge of the flipper glass using isopropyl alcohol (Fig. 1).
2. Let the alcohol flash and apply adhesion prompter to the flipper glass top edge (1) (Fig. 1).
3. Let the adhesion promoter flash and position the seal as shown in (Fig. 2).
4. Slowly remove the red tape liner and firmly press the seal to the flipper glass in 3inch increments (Fig. 3).
5. Close the flipper glass and perform a water flow test verifying there are no leaks.
6. Return the vehicle to the customer.
