Instrument Panel Duct - Removal
REMOVAL
WARNING: Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.
NOTE: LHD model shown in illustrations. RHD model similar.
DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE
NOTE: Driver side instrument panel duct shown. Passenger side duct similar.
1. Remove the instrument panel and place it on a workbench Instrument Panel - Removal.
2. Remove the instrument panel cover Instrument Panel Cover - Removal.
3. Remove the demister ducts Instrument Panel Demister Duct - Removal.
4. Remove the defroster duct Defroster Duct - Removal.
5. Remove the screw (3) that secures the outlet end of each instrument panel duct (1) to the instrument panel support (2), as required.
6. Remove the screw (2) that secures each instrument panel duct (1 and 4) to the center of the instrument panel support (3), as required.
7. Disconnect each instrument panel duct from the center duct (5) and remove the panel ducts, as required.
CENTER
1. Remove the instrument panel and place it on a workbench Instrument Panel - Removal.
2. Remove the instrument panel cover Instrument Panel Cover - Removal.
3. Remove the demister ducts Instrument Panel Demister Duct - Removal.
4. Remove the defroster duct Defroster Duct - Removal.
5. Remove the driver and passenger side instrument panel ducts (see DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE ).
NOTE: If a foam seal on the top of the HVAC housing is deformed or damaged, the seal must be replaced.
6. Remove the two screws (3) that secure the center duct (2) to the top of the HVAC housing assembly (4) and remove the duct from the instrument panel support (1).
