4 Door Soft Top 2nd And 3rd Roof Bow Shield Installation
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves installing soft top roof bow shields at the second and third roof bows.
MODELS:
2010-2011 (JK) Wrangler
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built before March, 03, 2011 (MDH0303XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
4 door soft top 2nd and 3rd roof bow shield installation.
DIAGNOSIS:
If a customer's VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Install the second and third rib bow pivot point shields on the right and left side at the areas identified in (Fig. 1) and by following Step # 2 through Step # 15.
NOTE:
The right side 2nd roof bow is shown but the 3rd roof bow location is similar.
2. Separate the quarter windows hook and loop strips from the soft top and unzip the quarter windows (Fig. 2).
3. Separate the quarter window sides (2) from the side rail retainers (1) and the door frame and remove the quarter window (Fig. 2).
4. Unlatch the top at the header and fold back the soft top to where the 2nd roof bow pivot point is accessible.
5. Position the 2nd roof bow shield as shown in (Fig. 3).
6. Tuck the shield underneath the soft top fabric and secure the zip tie around the second roof bow.
NOTE:
When fastening the zip tie, position it so it faces the portion of shield shown in (Fig. 4) and remove the excess zip tie material.
7. Repeat Step # 5 through Step # 6 for the other side.
8. Now fold the soft top back further to access the third roof bow.
9. Position the locator (2) of the third roof bow shield (1) between the stay pad and the roof bow and against the lower stay pad rivet (3) (Fig. 5).
10. Then rotate the shield into position (Fig. 6) and secure the zip tie.
NOTE:
When fastening the zip tip position it so it faces the portion of shield shown in (Fig. 7) and remove the excess zip tie material.
11. Repeat Step # 9 and Step # 10 on the other side.
12. Re-secure the soft top assembly to the header
13. Zip the quarter windows onto the soft top and secure the window retainers (2) to the lower rails (1) and the door frames (Fig 2).
14. Secure the quarter window hook and loop strips to the soft top (Fig 2).
15. Return the vehicle to dealer inventory.
