Remote Start Antenna - Removal

REMOVAL

WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment.

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Remove both the upper and lower shrouds from the steering column. Steering Column - Removal.
3. Disconnect the remote start antenna module coaxial cable connector from the connector receptacle of the Sentry Key REmote Entry Module (SKREEM) on the right side of the steering column near the ignition lock cylinder.

NOTE: A length of mechanics wire or string can be tied to the coaxial cable near the connector. Following removal, this wire or string can be transferred to the new coaxial cable of the new module, allowing the cable to be easily pulled back through the instrument panel during module installation.

4. Using a trim stick or another suitable wide flat-bladed tool, gently and evenly pry the upper edges of the lower center trim panel (3) away from the instrument panel far enough to disengage the two snap clips (2) that secure the top of the panel to the base trim of the instrument panel center stack.
5. Rotate the lower center trim panel downward far enough to disengage the two tabs (1) at the bottom of the panel from the base trim of the instrument panel center stack.
6. Remove the fasteners that secure the remote start antenna module to the base trim of the instrument panel center stack.
7. Carefully disengage and guide the remote start antenna module coaxial cable while pulling the module away from the instrument panel.
