SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience that their vehicle transmission remains in "Default mode (second gear) after an engine start. The transmission will not shift to a higher gear. This condition may be intermittent. If the engine is turned off and an engine restart is performed, the transmission will often perform normally (not remain in "Default mode). There will be no transmission related Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) present.
"Default" mode is used to protect the transmission. The transmission logic will remain in or revert to this mode if certain required operating parameters are not met in a specified time during engine start.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the above symptom/condition is experienced perform the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
NOTE:
If this flash process is interrupted/aborted, the flash should be restarted.
1. Reprogram the PCM with the latest software. Follow the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT/TechCONNECT, Refer To Group 8 - Electrical > Electronic Control Modules - Service Information > Module - Powertrain Control > Standard Procedures > PCM/ECM Programming - Gas. After PCM reprogramming, the following must be performed:
a. Clear any DTC's that may have been set in other modules due to reprogramming. The wiTECH application will automatically present all DTCs after the flash and allow the tech to clear them.
