Cooling System: Description and Operation
The cooling fan is a belt driven, thermally modulated fan with eight blades. The
fan clutch is activated and deactivated both thermally and by engine speed. The fan clutch engages when radiator temperature exceeds a high temperature threshold. The fan clutch disengages when it falls below the low temperature threshold. The clutch also disengages when engine speed exceeds the high speed threshold. When engine speed falls below the low speed threshold, the fan clutch engages to provide cooling when there is low air flow resulting from low speed.
