SERVICE TIP:

There have been several Sportage automatic transmission assemblies replaced with the complaint that the transmission will not shift into 4th gear (OD) when cold. This is the design operation for this transmission. When engine coolant temperature is below 122°F, the Transmission Control Module (TCM) will not allow the transmission to shift into OD. The purpose of this feature is for quick warm-up of the engine and catalytic converter(s).
