Heated Glass Element: Description and Operation

With the ignition switch in "ON" or "START," battery voltage is applied to both the coil and the contacts of the rear window defroster relay. When the rear window defroster switch is pressed, the electronic time and alarm control module senses ground on the RED wire through the rear window defroster switch. The electronic time and alarm control module will then ground the coil of the rear window defroster relay. The rear window defroster relay energizes and applies battery voltage to the rear window defroster and the rear window defroster indicator.

The electronic time and alarm control module will cancel rear window defroster operation after fifteen minutes of operating time.
