Owner Notification Campaign - Sportage Owners Manual





This bulletin provides information related to a owner notification on 2000 model year Sportage to correct an error in the Owners Manual. The jump starting diagram in the Owners Manual is incorrect. If the diagram were followed, spark/arcing could cause the battery to rupture causing potential serious injury to bystanders.

To correct this error, Kia is sending a letter and correction sticker to all 2000 model year Sportage owners asking them to apply a correction sticker to page 6-5 in their Owners Manual.

For your in-stock 2000 model year Sportages and owners requesting that a dealer install their correction sticker, refer to correction sticker application.

* NOTICE:
There is no charge to the customer for this procedure. Under applicable law, you may not sell or otherwise deliver any 2000 model year Sportage until the Owners Manual has been corrected, pursuant to the procedure set forth in this bulletin.

CORRECTION STICKER APPLICATION

1. Remove Owners Manual from information packet in glove box.

2. Open Owners Manual to page 6-5.





3. Apply supplied sticker with revised battery jumper connections in location shown.

4. Reinsert Owners Manual into owners information packet and return to glove box.

AFFECTED PRODUCTION RANGE:

All 2000 model year Sportage.
