Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)
ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICSRecord the diagnostic trouble code after detecting malfunction on ECM.
Record the self-diagnostic code if the same trouble occurs again after restarting the engine. (Malfunction detected in running)
However, as fuel system rich/lean misfiring, the diagnostic trouble code is recorded on the first detection of the malfunction.
MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT (MIL)
The On-board diagnostic lamp turns on to notify the driver for a problem on the vehicle.
However MIL will go off automatically after 3 sequential driving cycles, the same malfunction not redetected. Immediately after the ignition switch is turned on, the malfunction indicator lamp keeps on for 5 seconds to indicate that the malfunction indicator lamp operates normally.
The items as below will be indicated by MIL.
1. Air flow sensor (AFS)
2. Engine coolant temperature sensor (ECTS)
3. Throttle position sensor (TPS)
4. Injector
5. Oxygen sensor (O2 sensor)
6. Crankshaft position sensor (CKPS)
Malfunction indicator lamp inspection
1. After turning on the ignition key, check that the light illuminates for 5 seconds without engine running.
2. If the light does not illuminate, check for an open circuit in harness, blown fuse and blown bulb.
