Evaporative Canister Vent

This bulletin provides information related to saturation of the evaporative canister that may be experienced in some Sedona vehicles produced between 5/1/01 and 9/25/03 in high ambient temperatures or high altitudes. To correct this problem, Kia is adding a new vent pipe from the evaporative canister.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Release the parking brake.





2. Remove the canister vent hose from fitting mounted in the frame rail as shown at point "A".





3. Remove the screw from the parking cable mounting bracket as shown at point "B".





4. Remove the screw from the parking cable mounting bracket as shown at point "C".





5. Remove the screw from the parking cable mounting bracket as shown at point "D".





6. Insert the supplied vent pipe into the side of the frame rail at point "E".





7. Secure the new vent pipe at point "D" with the original parking brake cable bracket screw.





8. Secure the new vent pipe at point "C" with the original parking brake cable bracket screw.





9. Secure the new vent pipe at point "B" with the original parking brake cable bracket screw.





10. Rotate the vent hose at the canister, point "F", in a clockwise direction to connect with the new vent pipe.





11. Connect the vent hose to the new vent pipe, point "C", and secure with the original clamp.





12. Confirm that the new vent pipe is secure and does not rattle.

13. Confirm the proper operation of the parking brake.

AFFECTED PRODUCTION RANGE

All Sedona vehicles with production dates from 5/1/01 through 9/25/03.
