Fuel System - Tank Pressure Sensor

SERVICE TIP:
The Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor (FTPS) is used during testing and monitoring of the Evaporative Emissions System.
The FTPS is used on all KIA models except the 2000~2004 1.8L Sephia and Spectra vehicles. The pressure sensor operates on a 5-volt reference, ground and a signal return back to the ECM/PCM.
The ECM/PCM uses the FTPS signal to verify proper CCV venting operation and to determine whether a leak is present in the EVAP system. The sensor provides actual tank pressure information during the test mode by comparing the pressure inside the tank to the atmospheric pressure. Because the FTPS is a differential pressure type sensor, make sure the atmospheric reference hose or port is never blocked, capped (see photo) or kinked as this may intermittently cause an EVAP related malfunction such as identified by a canister close valve/vent malfunction DTC.
