SUBJECT:
SORENTO SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR DTC RELATED IMPROVEMENTS

This bulletin provides information related to replacement of the Air Bag Diagnostic Unit (ADU). Some 2002-2004 Sorento owners may complain of the SRS warning illumination.

A combination of seat position/adjustment, hardware production toleances and parameter settings may cause the SRS warning light to illuminate resulting in 0 stored in the ADU memory even though no actual faults exist in either the sensor or its circuit.

To reduce incidence of "false" DTCs B1388 or B1389 (Seat Track Position Sensor), an upgraded ADU with revised software is being made available.

CAUTION
Wait at least 30 seconds after the ignition key is shut OFF and the battery is disconnected before servicing the Air Bag System. Back-up power is available for approximately 150 mS.
