A/T - Fluid Level Checking
SOURCE: KIA Technician Times Volume 6 Issue 1, 2003TITLE: A/T - Adding Fluid
APPLIES TO: Sedona
SERVICE TIP:
After servicing the automatic transmission, thoroughly test drive the vehicle before performing a final check of the fluid level. A thorough test drive verifies proper transmission operation and allows the engine and transmission to reach normal operating temperature, which permits fluid to circulate completely through all internal passages, purging any trapped air. This is particularly important after servicing the Sedona transmission, as the fluid level indicator may initially display a false "full" reading. This condition is often accompanied by lack of engagement, or delayed engagement in forward and reverse gears. Idling the engine and driving the vehicle will allow the transmission fluid to reach normal operating temperature, which helps to purge any trapped air. A subsequent final fluid level check will help to ensure a successful service.a successful service.
