Vehicle - Sedona 2005 Emissions Certifications
SOURCE: KIA Technician Times Volume 8 Issue 1, 2005TITLE: Emissions Certifications
APPLIES TO: Sedona 2005
SERVICE TIP:
At the start of the 2005 model year production, vehicles with two types of emission certifications were produced: "CA" and "FED" versions.
Note: "CA" certified vehicles are also sold in states bordering on California as well as, in Maine, Vermont, New York and Massachusetts.
Only the "CA" vehicles were fitted with an evaporative emissions control system compliant to LEV II evaporative standards, FED vehicles were not. In the final months of 2004 the LEV II evaporative emission control system became standard on all Sedonas, making them in effect "50 state" units. All CA and 50 state units are LEV II compliant. While several other changes were made to create the LEV II EVAP configuration, including the canister, charcoal type, connecting lines, etc., apart from the emissions label under the hood, the most outwardly noticeable difference between the two systems (CA and 50 state vs FED) is an additional "vent" line in the LEV II vehicles that leads from the canister close valve vent filter connection to an area under the hood, below the brake booster. hood, below the brake booster.
