Delphi Rear Deat Entertainment Diagnosis
Procedure (Accessories - 006)

- Description

This bulletin provides information related to the testing and diagnosis of the factory installed Delphi Rear Seat Entertainment System (RSE) on the 2006 MY Sedona and later production. Some of the RSE units returned for warranty are found to have no problems functionally. Others have been found to have baseball cards, coins, or even 2-3 DVD's inserted into the RSE unit.

Before exchanging any RSE unit, proceed according to the included diagnostic charts for symptom related concerns.

Pre-Inspection

Interviewing the customer to verify and validate complaints will aid in the diagnosis of RSE concerns, as well as prevent costly charge backs. Sample questions as shown below can help narrow down your diagnosis procedure:

^ Can the concern be demonstrated/duplicated?

^ Who is the primary operator of the RSE?

^ Is the complaint related to improper operation?

^ Are there any DVD's/personal possessions that are currently unaccounted for, that might be inside the RSE unit?

^ How long have these events been occurring?

^ What types of CD's or DVD's are being used in the RSE?

^ If there are CD's or DVD's that are irretrievable after diagnosis, please place a self-addressed envelope with the returned RSE core to facilitate the return of your disks.

*NOTICE
The RSE system is programmed to the regional display formats: NTSC (USA) or PAL (Europe). The Delphi RSE will not read DVDs in formats other than for the regional code it is programmed for. Only DVDs marked for "Region1" or "all regions" will play in the unit.

Visual Inspection

Children may insert a number of objects into the RSE unit, including multiple discs. If a RSE unit is found to be inoperative, confirm that no foreign objects or multiple discs have been inserted into the RSE. This check can be performed by closely observing the DVD insertion area for protruding objects or distortion of the felt around the DVD insertion area. If multiple discs, foreign objects or debris are found in the player, this is not a warrantable concern.

*NOTICE
The DVD unit is a non-serviceable item and should not be taken apart to remove these items under any circumstance.

If no faults are found during the visual inspection, proceed with the appropriate symptom flowcharts as shown.
