2. Raise and properly support the vehicle on a lift, to perform the brake line inspection. Remove both rear left and right side tire & wheel assemblies from the vehicle.
3. Carefully inspect the rear brake hoses for any contact marks on both the left and right rear brake hoses. Inspection should consist of a complete 360-degree observation of the brake hose in the inspection area. If contact has occurred and the integrity of the hose is compromised, replacement of the rear brake hose is necessary.
*NOTICE
The remainder of this procedure must be completed, regardless of brake line replacement or inspection results.
*NOTICE
This inspection must be performed on both the left & right rear caliper brake hoses.
4. If there are no contact marks on either of the left or right rear brake hoses, proceed to the 2nd Inspection Procedure.
If contact has occurred, proceed with the brake line replacement out lined in the 2006 Sedona Service Manual Section BR-16/17/18 or on KGIS.
All brake hoses that have failed the inspection procedure must be returned to KMA for validation of defect.
*NOTICE
After brake line replacement, the 2nd inspection procedure must be completed.
2ND INSPECTION PROCEDURE:
1. Insert the brake line adjustment tool between the forward upper caliper mounting bolt and the rear brake line. The tool should be held perpendicular to the forward caliper-mounting bolt. Ensure that the open side of the tool is positioned towards the brake line hose crimp, and the closed end of the tool is flush with the forward caliper mounting bolt head surface. The tool should fit loosely between the forward caliper mounting bolt and the rear brake line.
*NOTICE
This inspection must be performed on both the left & right caliper brake hoses.
2. If the clearance is less then specified, proceed to the Adjustment Procedure. If the clearance is within specification, confirm proper clearance on both the left and right side rear brake hoses, and reinstall wheel assemblies.
3. Torque Lug Nuts (65.1-79.6 ft-lbs /88-109 Nm), in the proper sequence using the lug torque pattern, as shown.
ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE:
1. Slightly loosen the rear brake line caliper bolt from the caliper housing, this should be done until the rear brake line slightly moves. Brake bleeding should be performed if any brake fluid loss should occur.
*NOTICE
Do not remove the bolt, loosen only enough to allow brake line to pivot side to side
*NOTICE
During the rear brake line adjustment procedure no brake fluid loss should occur. If brake fluid loss should occur, perform 2006 Sedona brake bleeding procedure. Refer to the applicable service information.
2. Insert the brake line adjustment tool between the forward upper caliper mounting bolt and the rear brake line. The tool should be held perpendicular to the forward caliper mounting bolt. Ensure that the open side of the tool is positioned toward the brake line hose crimp, and the closed end of the tool is flush with the forward caliper mounting bolt head surface. Allow the tool to reposition the rear brake line to its new routing position.
3. With the brake line adjustment tool's open side positioned toward the brake line hose crimp, and the closed side of the tool flush with the forward caliper-mounting bolt, torque the rear brake line caliper bolt (18.1-21.7 Ft-lbs /24.5-29.4 Nm). Remove the brake line adjustment tool.
4. Perform this procedure on both the left and right rear brake assemblies.
5. Clean any residual brake fluid and ensure proper sealing of the rear brake line bolt to caliper. If the brake hoses were replaced, or if any brake fluid loss occurred, perform the proper service manual/scan tool brake bleeding procedure.
6. Install both tire and rim assemblies on the vehicle and follow the proper torque lug procedure.
Torque Lug Nuts (65.1-79.6 ft-lbs /88-109 Nm), in the proper sequence using the torque pattern, as shown.
7. Install SCO61 Campaign Completion Label on to left inner fender.
