Campaign - ESP Reprogramming

NUMBER: 056

DATE: November 2005

GROUP: Campaign

MODEL: Sportage

VOLUME: 3

SUBJECT: SERVICE CAMPAIGN: SPORTAGE ESP REPROGRAMMING

This bulletin provides information relating to a Service Campaign for 2005-2006MY Sportage vehicles produced between 6/24/04 - 8/10/05.

The ESP (Electronic Stability Program) on 2005-06 Sportage vehicles may be reprogrammed using the Hi-Scan Pro as described in this bulletin. The current ESP is designed to supplement the excellent stability and handling characteristics of these vehicles by aiding driver control in potentially unstable conditions such as during sever turning and evasive maneuvers, but Kia has determined that those characteristics can be enhanced even more with an update to the ESP computer logic.

ESP ROM ID INFORMATION TABLE:

Note: The reprogramming process for this campaign will also complete the reprogramming function for Campaign 044: 2005 Sportage ESP Reprogramming. Submission of this campaign will also close Campaign 044 (if both campaigns apply to the vehicle).

Download the latest Hi-Scan Pro reprogramming software for the 32MB (blue label) reprogramming card from the Kia Service Information System (KSIS). Click on the "Downloads" link located in the News Center on KSIS Home Page. Kia retailers can also order a CD (optional) by calling 866-KIA-TOOLS and ordering P/N 111330LD.
