W/Harness Inspection

Terminal and Connector Inspection

1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.
Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
2. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration or damage.
3. Has a problem been found ?
YES
1) Repair as necessary and go to "Verification Vehicle Repair" procedure.
NO
1) Go to "Signal Circuit Inspection" procedure.

Signal Circuit Inspection

1. Check for open in harness
1. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"
2. Measure resistance between terminal "F28-2-4, F27-2-4" of PSD and terminal "1" of vehicle speed sensor.
A. Specification : Approx. 0 Ohm

3. Is the measured resistance within specifications ?
YES
1) Go to "Check for short in harness" procedure.
NO
1) Check for open in signal harness. Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
2. Check for short in harness
1. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"
2. Measure resistance between terminal "F28-2-4, F27-2-4" of PSD and chassis ground.
A. Specification : Approx. Infinity Ohms

3. Is the measured resistance within specifications ?
YES
1) Go to "Power Supply Circuit Inspection" procedure.
NO
1) Check for short in signal harness. Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Power Supply Circuit Inspection

1. Check for open/short in harness
1. Ignition "OFF"
2. Disconnect vehicle speed sensor.
3. Ignition "ON".
4. Measure voltage between terminal "1" of vehicle speed sensor and chassis ground.
A. Specification : 9 - 16V

5. Is the measured voltage within specifications ?
YES
1) Go to "Ground circuit Inspection" procedure.
NO
1) Check for open or short in harness. Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ground Circuit inspection

1. Check for open/short in harness
1. Ignition "OFF"
2. Disconnect vehicle speed sensor.
3. Ignition "ON"
4. Measure voltage between terminal "3" of vehicle speed sensor and chassis ground.
5. Measure voltage between terminal "1" and "2" of vehicle speed sensor.
A. Specification : | (Voltage from procedure 4) - (Voltage from procedure 5)| < 200mV

6. Is the difference between two measured voltage within specifications ?
YES
1) Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.
NO
1) Check for open/short circuit in ground harness. Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
