Subject
Tire Pressure Adjustment with TPMS (General
Information - 013)

Description

Incorrect tire pressure may influence Initial Quality Survey (IQS) scores and cause customer dissatisfaction and complaints, sometimes right after vehicle delivery. Setting correct tire pressure is always critical, but especially at time of delivery. For shipping purposes, tire pressures are set higher than specifications at the factory. To prevent customer complaints about harsh ride, vibrations, tire wear, etc., pressures must be adjusted to specifications, as shown on label in the doorjamb during the PDI process and (if time elapsed) checked again at the time of delivery. All of this will be even more relevant now that Kia models are being equipped with TPMS. With TPMS, pressure that is too low will not only cause increased fuel consumption and other concerns but will also result in a customer coming back with the TPMS/ low pressure warning light ON!

Note:
Always check/set correct tire pressure at P01, immediately before delivery and during regular maintenance. Also, make sure that all tire pressure tools and gauges used are accurate to within +/- 1 PSI.

Temporary spare tires are NOT equipped with TPMS sensors. However, it is important to check/adjust pressure before delivery and during regular maintenance.

Tire Maintenance In addition to proper inflation, correct wheel alignment helps decrease tire wear. If you find a tire is worn unevenly, you should notify the customer the vehicle needs tire rotation, balancing and wheel alignment performed. This will increase the ride comfort and tire life.

Service Procedure

See chart for correct tire pressures for each 2007 model and tire size including the spare tire. Tire pressure information for all models is also located on the tire pressure/specification label. Failure to comply may result in returned vehicles right after delivery with TPMS/low pressure warning light ON and related claims are subject to warranty department charge-backs for poor workmanship.
