Front Area Module
B1624Component Location:
General Description
FAM is a component of BCM that consists of DDM, ADM, FAM, RAM, IMS and cluster module. Each component of BCM controls relative unit and share information by CAN communication line. FAM is abbreviation of Front Area Module. It is located in the engine room and controls wiper and all kinds of lamp (Head lamp, tail lamp, stop lamp, turn signal lamp etc.), Beside that, FAM performs diagnosis of system.
DTC Description
The ECM sets DTC B1624 if there's any fault in writing/reading FAM EEPROM data procedure.
DTC Detecting Condition:
Schematic Diagram:
Monitor Scantool Data
1. Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"
3. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)" mode and monitor "DTC Status" parameter
4. Is the DTC B1624 present?
YES
a. Go to "Inspection & Repair" procedure
NO
a. Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECM's connector or was repaired and ECM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
Component Inspection
1. Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"
3. Erase the DTC.
4. Is the DTC erased?
YES
a. Check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace if necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
NO
a. Substitute with a known-good FAM and check for proper operation If the problem is corrected, replace FAM and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
Verification of Vehicle Repair
After a repair, it is essential to verify that the fault has been corrected.
1. Connect scantool and select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)" mode and then clear DTC
2. Operate the vehicle and monitor the DTC on the scantool
3. Are any DTCs present?
YES
a. Go to the applicable troubleshooting procedure
NO
a. System is performing to specification at this time.
