B2331
B2331Component Location:
General Description
DDM is a node of CAN communication system which consists of IPM. FAM, RAM, ADM, IMS. Main function of DDM is lock/unlock of door and window, adjusting position and fold/unfold of outside mirror. Door lock actuator consists of motor and monitoring switch. According to Switch signal of DDM, Door lock actuator operates motor to lock/unlock door and monitoring switch delivers result to DDM by voltage value
DTC Description
The ECM sets DTC B2331 if there's short circuit in driver door unlock actuator circuit harness
DTC Detecting Condition:
Schematic Diagram:
Monitor Scantool Data
1. Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"
3. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)" mode and monitor "DTC Status" parameter
4. Is the DTC B2331 present?
YES - Go to "Inspection & Repair" procedure
NO - Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECM's connector or was repaired and ECM memory was not cleared.
Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
Terminal and Connector Inspection
1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.
Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
2. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.
3. Has a problem been found?
YES - Repair as necessary and go to "Verification Vehicle Repair" procedure
NO - Go to "W/Harness Inspection" procedure
Signal Circuit Inspection
Check for short in harness
1. Ignition "OFF"
2. Disconnect driver Door lock actuator.
3. Measure resistance between terminal "9" of DDM and chassis ground
Specification : Approx. Infinity ohms
4. Is the measured resistance within specifications?
YES - Go to "Power circuit Inspection" procedure.
NO - Check for short in signal harness. Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
Power Supply Circuit Inspection
Motor Power circuit Inspection
1. Ignition "OFF"
2. Disconnect driver Door lock actuator.
3. Measure resistance between terminal "4" of DDM and chassis ground
Specification : Approx. Infinity ohms
4. Is the measured resistance within specifications?
YES - Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.
NO - Check for short in power harness. Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
Component Inspection
Check driver Door lock actuator
1. Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"
3. Select 'ACTUATION TEST' mode on scantool and press [F1] to start
4. Does driver Door lock actuator work properly?
YES - Go to "Check driver Door lock monitoring switch" procedure.
NO - Substitute with a known-good driver Door lock actuator and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace driver Door lock actuator and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
Check driver Door lock monitoring switch
5. Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
6. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"
7. Measure voltage value between terminal "9" of DDM and chassis ground. While operating driver door lock actuator
Specification : Door lock -> 5 V, Door unlock -> 0 V
8. Is the measured voltage within specifications?
YES - Go to "Check DDM" procedure.
NO - Substitute with a known-good driver Door lock actuator and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace driver Door lock actuator and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
Check DDM
9. Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
10. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"
11. Measure voltage value between terminal "4" of DDM and chassis ground. While operating driver door lock switch.
Specification : 9 - 16 V
12. Is the measured voltage within specifications?
YES - Check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
NO - Substitute with a known-good DDM and check for proper operation.
If the problem is corrected, replace DDM and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
Verification of Vehicle Repair
After a repair, it is essential to verify that the fault has been corrected.
1. Connect scantool and select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)" mode and then clear DTC
2. Operate the vehicle and monitor the DTC on the scantool
3. Are any DTCs present?
YES - Go to the applicable troubleshooting procedure
NO - System is performing to specification at this time.
