B2441
B2441Component Location:
General Description
RAM is a component of BCM that consists of DDM, ADM, IPM, FAM, IMS and cluster module. Each part of BCM is connected to one another through CAN communication line for efficient communication. Those modules control front/rear, driver/passenger seat, cluster with electrical signal and they share information with other modules. RAM (Rear Area Module) set up at rear-left of passenger room controls various rear lamps (tail lamp, rear turn signal lamp, backup lamp, stop lamp, cabin lamp), window (sliding door power window, quarter glass, rear defogger), rear wiper and oil cap door. Received multi function switch rear wiper signal from IPM through CAN line, RAM controls rear wiper. Auto parking switch is set up inside of rear wiper, and it transfers wiper operating condition to RAM as monitoring.
DTC Description
B2441 is set when PARK signal is not detected for more than 5 sec. in rear wiper.
DTC Detecting Condition:
Schematic Diagram:
Monitor Scantool Data
1. Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"
3. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)" mode and monitor "DTC Status" parameter
4. Is the DTC B2441 present?
YES
a. Go to "Inspection & Repair" procedure
NO
a. Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECM's connector or was repaired and ECM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
Terminal and Connector Inspection
1. Electrical systems consist of a lot of harness and connectors, poor connection of terminals can cause various problems and damage of component.
2. Check poor connection, beding, corrosion, contamination, deformation of connector and it terminals.
3. Is any problem found?
YES
a. Repair if necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".
NO
a. Go to W/Harness Inspection.
Signal Circuit Inspection
Check short in signal circuit
1. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"
2. Disconnect rear wiper motor.
3. Measure the resistance between rear wiper motor signal circuit connector terminal at RAM side (BCM-RR2-6) and chassis ground.
Specification : Infinity ohms
4. Is the measured resistance within the specification?
YES
a. Go to "Component Inspection".
NO
a. Repair open in power circuit and Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".
Component Inspection
Check rear wiper
1. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"
2. Disconnect rear wiper motor.
3. Measure the resistance between rear wiper motor signal circuit connector terminal (R16-3) and ground circuit connector terminal (R16-1).
Specification : Infinity ohms
4. Is the measured resistance within the specification?
YES
a. Go to "Check RAM".
NO
a. Repair open in signal circuit and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".
Check RAM
5. Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
6. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"
7. Check if DTC is erased after replacing RAM with "RAM for test".
8. Is the DTC erased?
YES
a. Replace "RAM for test" with "new RAM" and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".
NO
a. Check connecting condition of connector and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".
Verification of Vehicle Repair
After a repair, it is essential to verify that the fault has been corrected.
1. Connect scantool and select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)" mode and then clear DTC
2. Operate the vehicle and monitor the DTC on the scantool
3. Are any DTCs present?
YES
a. Go to the applicable troubleshooting procedure
NO
a. System is performing to specification at this time.
