Rear Area Module
B2535Component Location:
General Description
RAM is a component of BCM that consists of DDM, ADM, IPM, FAM, IMS and cluster module. Each part of BCM is connected to one another through CAN communication line for efficient communication. Those modules control front/rear, driver/passenger seat, cluster with electrical signal and they share information with other modules. RAM (Rear Area Module) set up at rear-left of passenger room controls various rear lamps (tail lamp, rear turn signal lamp, backup lamp, stop lamp, cabin lamp), window (sliding door power window, quarter glass, rear defogger), rear wiper and oil cap door. Received multi function switch turn signal lamp signal from IPM through CAN line, RAM controls turn signal lamp. IPS is a semi-conductor element which performs roles of fuse and relay. In addition to those roles, it performs sensing circuit error, circuit protection.
DTC Description
B2535 is set when short to ground in right turn signal lamp circuit is detected.
DTC Detecting Condition:
Schematic Diagram:
Monitor Scantool Data
1. Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF" & RAM : "ON"
3. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)" mode and monitor "DTC Status" parameter
4. Is the DTC B2535 present?
YES
a. Go to "Inspection & Repair".
NO
a. Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECM's connector or was repaired and ECM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
Terminal and Connector Inspection
1. Electrical systems consist of a lot of harness and connectors, poor connection of terminals can cause various problems and damage of component.
2. Check poor connection, beding, corrosion, contamination, deformation of connector and it terminals.
3. Is any problem found?
YES
a. Repair if necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".
NO
a. Go to W/Harness Inspection.
Power Supply Circuit Inspection
Check short in power circuit
1. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"
2. Disconnect Right turn signal lamp.
3. Measure the resistance between Right turn signal lamp power circuit connector terminal at RAM side (BCM-RF2-40) and chassis ground.
Specification : Infinity ohms
4. Is the measured resistance within the specification?
YES
a. Go to "Component Inspection".
NO
a. Repair short to ground in power circuit and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".
Component Inspection
Check turn signal lamp
1. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"
2. Disconnect turn signal lamp
3. Measure the resistance between both terminals of turn signal lamp light bulb.
Specification : approx. 0.04 ohms (If light bulb fails, Infinity ohms is measured.)
4. Is the measured resistance within the specification?
YES
a. Go to "Check RAM".
NO
a. Replacing the light bulb with light bulb for test, if normal operating condition is confirmed, Replace light bulb for test with new light bulb and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".
Check RAM
5. Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
6. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"
7. Check if DTC is erased after replacing RAM with "RAM for test".
8. Is the DTC erased?
YES
a. Replace "RAM for test" with "new RAM" and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".
NO
a. Check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace if necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
Verification of Vehicle Repair
After a repair, it is essential to verify that the fault has been corrected.
1. Connect scantool and select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)" mode and then clear DTC
2. Operate the vehicle within DTC Enable conditions in General information.
3. Are any DTCs present?
YES
a. Go to the applicable troubleshooting procedure
NO
a. System is performing to specification at this time.
