Steering Column: Service and Repair
Replacement
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery and then wait for at least 30 seconds.
2. Turn the steering wheel so that the front wheels can face straight ahead.
3. Remove the DAB module (or Horn pad).
4. Disconnect the remote switch connector (A) and remove the dynamic damper (B) by loosening the bolts.
Tightening torque
40 - 50N.m (4.0 - 5.0kgf.m, 29 - 36lb-ft)
5. Remove the steering wheel from the steering n shaft using a SST (09561-11001).
CAUTION:
Do not hammer on the steering wheel to remove it; it may damage the steering column.
6. Remove the steering column upper and lower shroud (A, B).
7. Remove the clock spring (A) and multifunction switch (B).
8. Remove the reinforce panel (A) by loosening the mounting bolts.
9. Loosen the bolt (A) and then disconnect the universal joint assembly with the steering column assembly.
10. Remove the steering column dust cover (A) bolts.
11. Disconnect all connectors connected to the steering column assembly.
12. Remove the steering column assembly by loosening the mounting bolts and nuts.
13. Installation is the reverse of removal.
