CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM: 2ND AND 3RD ROW SEAT BACK BOARD REPLACEMENT (CS005)

This bulletin provides information related to some Borrego (HM) vehicles built from May 1, 2008 to September 14, 2009. On some Borrego (HM) vehicles, the hard back rear seat back boards may be scratched or scarred. The countermeasure includes replacing all original 2nd and 3rd rear seat back boards with new cloth covered back boards that are supplied in rear seat back board kit. There are three (3) kit variations depending on the vehicle interior color. The kit also includes: Armrest Cover Bracket, Armrest Cover Screw Caps, and 3rd Row Seat Lever Covers. Verify the vehicle is on the affected VIN List, and use the following procedure to replace the back boards.





NOTICE
All vehicles must be verified that the campaign is not completed. WebDCS > Warranty Coverage > Warranty Coverage Inquiry > Check Open Campaign Status.

NOTICE
A Customer Satisfaction Program is a repair program with customer notification that is performed during the warranty periods. Any dealer requesting to perform this repair outside the warranty period will require DPSM approval.

Repair status for a VIN is provided on WebDCS (Service> Warranty Coverage> Warranty Coverage Inquiry> Campaign Information). Not completed Recall/ Service Action reports are available on WebDCS (Consumer Affairs> Not Completed Recall> Recall VIN> Select Report), which includes a list of affected vehicles.

This issue number is CS005.

SERVICE PROCEDURE: REMOVAL OF 2ND AND 3RD ROW SEAT BACK BOARDS





1. Remove left and right-side 3rd row seat folding lever covers by first removing screw cover caps, then remove retaining screws and lever covers (new lever covers are provided in the kit).

NOTICE
Rear seat back board kit includes all necessary parts to complete this Customer Satisfaction Program service procedure.





2. Remove left and right-side 3rd row seat back boards as shown in the photo.

3. Remove the right-side 2nd row seat access lever knob by carefully prying on the knob as shown in the photo; then remove retaining screw cap and screw; then remove lever cover.





4. Remove retaining screw cover cap and screw as indicated by the arrow.





5. Remove LATCH cover assembly as indicated by arrow by pulling down LATCH cover, and then remove retaining screw and cover assembly.

Slide the right-side 2nd row seat completely forward. Remove the seat back board lower retaining screws as indicated by the circles. Remove seat back board beginning with the lower section first.





6. Remove both LATCH cover assemblies as indicated by the circles on left-side 2nd row seat back board by pulling down cover, and then remove retaining screw and LATCH cover assembly.

Remove the retaining screw cap cover and screw as indicated by the arrow.





7. Remove the left-side 2nd row seat back lower retaining screws as indicated by the circles.





8. Remove 2nd row armrest bracket cover by removing both screw cover caps and retaining screws located where indicated by arrows. Remove armrest bracket cover.





9. The 2nd row armrest bracket cover is shown removed.

Remove the left-side 2nd row seat back board beginning with the lower section first.





10. Install new 2nd and 3rd row seat back boards supplied in the kit in reverse order of removal.

Precautions during installation:
^ If the left-side 2nd row seat back board encounters interference with the armrest cover rib, slightly cut the protruding part of the armrest cover rib as shown in the photo.





^ Be sure to install the new left-side 2nd row seat armrest cover (indicated by arrow) supplied in the kit before installing the back board upper retaining screws.

^ Make sure to cover the 2nd row seat back board lower retaining screws (indicated by the circles) with new screw cover caps provided in the kit.
