2nd Row Seat Plastic Trim Piece Repair Procedure 2007-2009 Sorento (BL) Models

Some 2007-2009 Sorento (BL) Models may experience instances of the 2nd row seat lower leg plastic trim piece that comes loose. In and effort to reduce repeated customer visits for this concern as well as unnecessary warranty replacement of this trim piece, Kia has provided the following repair procedure:

^ Verify that the trim piece is not physically damaged. The most common reason for this trim piece to come loose is due to improper engagement of the inner latching tabs to the seat frame.

^ To gain access to the trim piece, lift seat cushion forward.

^ If the seat trim is cosmetically okay; drill a 1/4-inch hole in both of the inner plastic upright/retaining tabs on the affected trim piece (see photo).

^ Install trim piece onto the seat frame and secure it with a cable tie. Cut off excess length.
