Service Procedure
Service Procedure:1. Apply the parking brake.
Set the shift lever to the "N" position.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
Remove the air duct (A).
*NOTICE
Removal of the air box is not required on Sedona vehicles.
2. Disconnect the air intake hose (B).
Tightening Torque:
26-43 in-lbs (2.9-4.9 Nm)
Remove the air cleaner assembly (C) by loosening mounting bolt (D).
Tightening Torque:
70-86 in-lbs (7.8-9.8 Nm)
*NOTICE
Removal of the battery is not required on Sportage vehicles.
3. Record customers radio stations before disconnecting battery.
Remove the battery assembly (E).
Tightening Torque Specifications:
(-) terminal:
4.0 - 6.0N.m (3.0 - 4.4lb-ft)
(+) terminal:
9.8 - 11.8N.m (7.2 - 8.7lb-ft)
Clamp nut:
9.8 - 11.8N.m (7.2 - 8.7lb-ft)
4. Remove the battery tray by loosening mounting bolts (F).
Tightening Torque: (E)
9.8 - 11.8 Nm 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft
Disconnect connector (G) from the battery tray.
5. Remove the manual control lever mounting nut (H) and washer. Set the manual control lever (I) aside.
DO NOT loosen or remove the shift cable mounting nut (J) or adjustment may be required.
CAUTION
Before removing nut and washer, make sure the shift gear selector is in the neutral position.
6. Remove two (2) inhibitor switch mounting bolts (K). Discard the bolts as they will not be re-used.
7. Install the new inhibitor switch bracket (L) to the inhibitor switch.
8. Install the new inhibitor switch bracket (M) to the inhibitor switch, install new retaining bolts but leave slightly loose for adjustment.
9. Re-install the removed manual control lever (N) to the inhibitor switch and tighten nut.
CAUTION
During installation, position the manual control lever in place with a 5mm bolt or suitable alignment tool, then tighten the inhibitor switch assembly mounting nut and washer.
10. Install the manual control lever washer and nut (O).
Tightening Torque:
13.0-18 ft-lbs (17.7-24.5 Nm)
11. Tighten the two (2) inhibitor switch bracket bolts.
Tighten Torque:
86 - 104 in-lbs (9.8 - 11.8 Nm
12. Reinstall all the removed components in reverse order of removal.
Check if any DTCs (P0705) related to the inhibitor switch exists. Clear the DTC(s).
Make sure the vehicle is functioning properly.
13. Reprogram radio station presets as recorded in step 3.
