2011MY SORENTO [XM] EMS CONNECTOR INSPECTION

This Service Campaign supercedes TSB ELE 012 (Service Action 029)

In some 2011MY Sorento vehicles with 2.4L engine produced from October 23, 2009 through December 14, 2009, and 2011MY Sorento vehicles with 3.5L engine produced from October 23, 2009 through January 21, 2010 an EMS connector may not have been properly snapped into place. Kia has identified two field vehicles which did not have connectors properly snapped and wants to ensure maximum customer satisfaction with this new model. Verify the vehicle is covered in the list of affected VINs. Use the following procedure to check, and if necessary, correct the condition. Kia is requesting the completion of this Service Campaign on all affected 2011MY Sorento vehicles in dealer stock prior to retail sales.

NOTICE

NOTE
This Service Campaign will not require the use of campaign Stickers.

Repair Procedure





1. Open hood, disconnect battery and remove fuse box cover.





2. Lift the black lever on white connector (EC-01) and lift the connector out of the fuse box assembly.





3. Release the three (3) tabs to remove the EMS block from the fuse box assembly. Push the tabs inward towards the EMS fuse box. When the tabs are depressed lift the assembly out using a hook type tool to lift out of the fuse box assembly.





4. When the EMS fuse box has been lifted out remove the lower cover by releasing the four (4) retaining tabs.








5. Ensure the white and yellow electrical connectors are fully seated as shown in photo.





6. Snap the lower wire harness cover back into position as removed.





7. Insert EMS fuse box back into position and ensure white button is sticking up approx. 2mm to ensure the assembly is fully seated and tabs are secured.





8. Re-insert the white electrical connector and ensure lock is latched.

9. Re-install the fuse box cover lid and reconnect the battery.

10. Close hood.
