Campaign - Axle Intermediate Shaft Noise

GROUP Service Campaign

NUMBER SC 082 [Rev 5]

MODEL 2011MY Sorento (XM)

DATE October 2010

NOTICE

This bulletin provides information related to some 2011 Sorento (XM) vehicles built from October 23, 2009 to May 22, 2010 with 2.4L engines and automatic transmissions. Although some customers might not have a direct complaint related to a clunk or squealing noise from the intermediate shaft, Kia recommends that all 2.4L engine vehicles with automatic transmissions be repaired for this concern. Kia is asking that dealers implement two countermeasures simultaneously to correct abnormal intermediate shaft noise by following the procedure outlined below. Machine a chamfer (angle) into the intermediate shaft bearing bracket, and apply 1.5 to 2.5 grams of McLube MoS2400 grease (Petroleum Grease with Molybdenum Disulfide) to the splines in the transmission.

NOTICE
Confirm that campaign has not already been performed on vehicle by checking WebDCS > Warranty Coverage > Warranty Coverage Inquiry > Check Open campaign Status.
