Plastic Tick or Snap Noise from Center Console Area Over Bumps

Some 2011 Sorento customers with vehicles built before February 11, 2010 may experience a ticking or snapping noise when driving over bumps, especially during cold weather when driving in the morning before the vehicle interior has a warmed. If you encounter a vehicle with this concern, please use the following repair procedure to apply two small pieces of felt cut to the size indicated and apply them to the two forward locating tabs.





1. Pull straight up on the center console upper trim piece to dislodge the trim clips around the cup holder area of the console. Disconnect the connector shown and remove the center console upper trim.





2. Cut two pieces of felt to the size indicated below and wrap completely around the two forward locating tabs as shown





3. Reinstall the connector and then reinstall the center console upper, making sure not to pinch the harness between the trim piece and center console. Test drive to verify that the noise is gone,
