Front Subframe: Service and Repair





Replacement

1. Loosen the bolt(A) and then remove the universal joint (B).

Tightening torque :
13 - 18N.m (1.3 - 1.8kgf.m, 9.4 - 13.0lb-ft)




2. Loosen the wheel nuts slightly.
Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported.
3. Remove the front wheel and tire (A) from the front hub (B).

Tightening torque :
88.3 - 107.9N.m (9.0 - 11.0kgf.m, 65.1 - 79.6lb-ft)





CAUTION:
Be careful not to damage to the hub bolts (C) when removing the front wheel and tire (A).

4. Remove the pressure hose (A).




5. Remove the return hose (A).




6. Remove the front stabilizer link (A) nut (B) from the strut assembly.

Tightening torque :
98.1 - 117.7N.m (10.0 - 12.0kgf.m, 72.3 - 86.8lb-ft)




7. After removing both sides of the tie rod end (A) self-locking nuts (B) and cotter pin.

Tightening torque :
65 - 80N.m (6.0 - 8.0kgf.m, 43.4 - 57.8lb-ft)




8. Remove both sides of the lower arm (A) mounting bolts (B).

Tightening torque :
90 - 120N.m (9.0 - 12.0kgf.m, 65.1 - 86.8lb-ft)




9. Remove the engine mounting bolts (A, B).

Tightening torque :
65 - 85N.m (6.5 - 8.5kgf.m, 47.0 - 61.5lb-ft)








10. Remove the twelve bolts of the sub frame by supporting it with a jack.

Tightening torque :
Sub frame mounting bolt : 160 - 180N.m (16.0 - 18.0kgf.m, 115.7 - 130.2lb-ft)
Sub frame stay mounting bolt : 45 - 60N.m (4.5 - 6.0kgf,m, 32.5 - 43.4lb-ft)




11. Remove the stabilizer bar & lower arm.
12. Installation is the reverse of removal.
13. After installation, bleed the power steering system.
