Removal

1. Remove the timing chain.

NOTE:
Before removing the balance shaft chain, set the crankshaft key right direction to TDC position as following picture.

2. Install a set pin after compressing the balance shaft chain tensioner and then remove the hydraulic tensioner (A).
3. Remove the balance shaft chain tensioner arm (B).
4. Remove the balance shaft chain guide (C).

5. Remove the oil pump & balance shaft module (A) and balance shaft chain (B).

CAUTION:
Do not disassemble the oil pump & balance shaft module.

Installation

1. The key of crankshaft should be aligned with the mating face of main bearing cap. As a result of this, the piston of No.1 cylinder is placed at the top dead center on compression stroke.
2. Install the balance shaft chain that the timing mark of crankshaft should be matched with timing mark (color link) of balance shaft chain.

3. Install the balance shaft module that the timing mark of balance shaft module sprocket should be matched with timing mark (color link) of balance shaft chain.

NOTE:
The balance shaft sprocket mark (A) should be matched with balance shaft housing timing mark (B) during installation.

4. Install the balance shaft bolt & washer.
Bolting order
A. Assemble the bolts in order number as shown with seating torque 26.5 N.m (2.7kgf.m, 19.5 lb-ft)
B. Unfasten the bolts as reverse bolting order. (4-3-2-1) to minimize tighten torque err from bushing and sealant.
C. Assemble the bolts as specified bolting order in same increments as follows.

Tightening torque :
22.6 - 26.5N.m (2.3 - 2.7kgf.m, 16.6 - 19.5lb-ft) + (103 - 107°)

5. Install the balance shaft chain guide (C).

Tightening torque :
9.8 - 11.8N.m (1.0 - 1.2kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7lb-ft)

6. Install the balance shaft chain tensioner arm (B).

Tightening torque :
9.8 - 11.8N.m (1.0 - 1.2kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7lb-ft)

7. Install the balance shaft chain hydraulic tensioner (A) then remove the stopper pin.

Tightening torque :
9.8 - 11.8N.m (1.0 - 1.2kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7lb-ft)

CAUTION:
If replaced new balance shaft module, the pin (D) is to be removed.

8. Confirm the timing marks.
9. Install the timing chain.
