Receiver Dryer: Service and Repair


WARNING: Wear eye and hand protection when disconnecting components containing refrigerant. Plug all exposed connections immediately.

CAUTION
: Immediate blanking of the receiver drier is important. Exposed life of the unit is only 15 minutes.

REMOVE
1. Open the hood and connect the gauge set.
2. Discharge the system.
3. Disconnect the battery negative lead.

Receiver Drier:





4. Disconnect the electrical leads at the two plug connectors and carefully unscrew at the hexagon nut. the pressure switches from the receiver drier plus the exposed connection immediately.
5. Carefully disconnect the two hose connections. Use a second spanner to support the hose adaptor. Plug the exposed connections immediately.
6. Remove one bolt, nut and washers securing the mounting bracket to the wing valance.
7. Remove the clamp bolts, washers and nuts.
8. Withdraw the receiver drier from the mounting bracket.

REFIT
1. Insert the receiver drier into the mounting bracket with this inlet and outlet connections correct to the refrigerant circuit as shown.
2. Connect the two hose connections finger tight.

NOTE: Use refrigerant compressor oil on all mating surfaces to assist leakage prevention.

3. Fit the clamp bolts, washer and nuts.
4. Secure the mounting bracket to the wing valance
5. Tighten the two hose connections to 14-21 Nm (10-15 ft lb). Use a second spanner to support the hose adaptor.
6. Carefully refit the pressure switches to the receiver drier. Tighten the switches. Reconnect the electrical leads.
7. Evacuate the complete system.
8. Charge the complete system.
9. Perform a leak test on any disturbed joints.
10. Carry out a functional check.
11. Check compressor oil level.
12. Disconnect the gauge set.
